Warsaw Parks and Gardens: Photo of the city's Lazienki ParkWarsaw is a highly developed and attractive city, being filled with a surprising number of green spaces, which come in the form of large gardens, public parklands and national parks. Local Warsovians regularly frequent the countless parks around the city centre, which serve as an invaluable escape from modern life. However, many of these parks do not actually allow people to sit on the grass and this is usually clearly indicated by signposts.

Agrykola Park is an exception to this rule and is known for its relaxed atmosphere and picnicking opportunities. Another popular recreational space is Powsin Park, although so many people come here at the weekends that it can become rather crowded. Open-air chess tournaments are often held here and are usually watched by onlookers.
